Certified/ Registered Medical Assistant

Position Summary:?


Perform clinical and certain administrative duties under the direction of a provider. This position requires interaction with patients in a courteous, helpful and compassionate manner. Clinical duties include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, IV fluids, EKGs, PFTs, UAs, PPD, vaccinations and injectable medications as directed by the provider. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, requesting and sending medical records, addressing voicemail messages and mail as directed by the provider (copying, faxing, etc).?


Minimum Qualifications:? High school diploma or equivalent. Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited teaching establishment is preferred; 2 years of related work experience is preferred.





Job Specific Functions:



  1. Demonstrate ability to utilize time efficiently and effectively by coordinating tasks in a specified time frame. Maintain knowledge and effective use of medical terminology.

  2. Conduct business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, respectful and kind with dealing with patients and visitors.

  3. Review the daily schedule of patients and be certain that all appropriate preparations are in place to facilitate efficient patient flow for the day. Prioritizes workload to best meet both patient and practice needs. Restocks rooms with supplies as needed for patient care.

  4. Responsible for drawing blood, administering IV injections, EKGs, PFTs, UAs, IV fluids, PPD, vaccinations and injectable medications as directed by the provider.

  5. Take the appropriate vital signs and prepare the patient for the provider evaluation. Assist physician and patients in exam room including operating room set-up for minor procedures.?

  6. Complete necessary patient phone calls to confirm and schedule patient appointments and address voicemail messages. Request and send copies of medical records when needed.

  7. Scan patient chart documents in the eMDs database.

  8. Assist with Quality Assurance on all UA and PFT machines.

  9. Assist with prior authorization requests for prescriptions when needed.

  10. Interpret and transcribe provider?s orders and submit appropriate requisitions. Enters orders and other pertinent information by provider request and maintain detailed patient records.

  11. Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly appearance in the practice throughout the day.

  12. Patient education to include home nebulizer therapy, insulin injection, and blood sugar testing (home meter instruction).

  13. Call pharmacies with prescriptions as requested by provider.

  14. Disinfect and stock exam rooms/nursing stations and clean and package instruments for sterilization.

  15. Attend monthly staff meetings as required.

  16. Maintain strictest confidentiality, adhering to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations including all employee records.

  17. Other duties as assigned.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
